The Importance of Home…
November 21, 2012This transient lifestyle sure is a tricky one! Once again, I have set up my little corner of the world. My suitcases are stacked, one on top of the other, and my precious trinkets are placed thoughtfully amongst the newness. I don’t have much, but the things I do have help to create my version of home.
A few years ago, a two month stint staying with a slightly fruity lady encouraged me to re-think my rambling ways. When I found myself going to the gym, of all places, in order to avoid going home, I knew something had to be done. THE GYM for goodness sake! ( For those of you who do not know me, this is a drastic and extreme reaction). I seriously considered buying a caravan and day dreamed of my new nomadic life; a little house in tow. This thought was interrupted when I fell in love with a lad who was destined to move overseas. My rambling ways extended to the city of London and my caravan idea melted away.
This morning, I was writing a set list for an up coming gig and I realised how many times I mention the word HOME. I really do believe it’s important to feel you have a place in the world. Even if it is just a little corner. To find that sense of comfort within yourself is even more of a gift. As I sit here with coffee number two, in a town a barely know, I really hope I can find it in my heart to call it HOME. Even if just for a moment…
