Chester…

Designed by Chester Travis

I am continuously blown away by my friend Chester. He is a creative genius and generous friend. He makes me laugh and challenges me to stay true to myself. He allows me to punch him if his words are harsh and above all, he supports me in my quest to create.

This poster is one of his many designs and I encourage all of you to google his name. Go and find out more about the many talents of this wonderful man.

The Importance of Home…

Posted on by amy

This transient lifestyle sure is a tricky one! Once again, I have set up my little corner of the world. My suitcases are stacked, one on top of the other, and my precious trinkets are placed thoughtfully amongst the newness. I don’t have much, but the things I do have help to create my version of home.

A few years ago, a two month stint staying with a slightly fruity lady encouraged me to re-think my rambling ways. When I found myself going to the gym, of all places, in order to avoid going home, I knew something had to be done. THE GYM for goodness sake! ( For those of you who do not know me, this is a drastic and extreme reaction). I seriously considered buying a caravan and day dreamed of my new nomadic life; a little house in tow. This thought was interrupted when I fell in love with a lad who was destined to move overseas. My rambling ways extended to the city of London and my caravan idea melted away.

This morning, I was writing a set list for an up coming gig and I realised how many times I mention the word HOME. I really do believe it’s important to feel you have a place in the world. Even if it is just a little corner. To find that sense of comfort within yourself is even more of a gift. As I sit here with coffee number two, in a town a barely know, I really hope I can find it in my heart to call it HOME. Even if just for a moment…

If I had wings…

Posted on by amy

As I sit curled up with my hot water bottle, I can’t help but wish I had wings. If I did, I would meet my friends Faye and Janina for coffee. I would kiss the man I love and hold his hand till neither of us could stand it any longer. Oh gosh. New Zealand sure feels far away from London this evening.

Adapting to a new way of life is proving more challenging then I thought. Most days I embrace the chance to take my time and smell every rose, but after a weekend of listening to countless stories about loved one’s and family, my heart longs to be closer to those I have left overseas.

I could ramble for hours, but I think the best thing for me to do right now is to pick up my guitar and play.

Before I do, I just want to say a little something to all of you who have hearts in other countries; breathe, trust and sleep. Tomorrow is another day.

My Morning Coffee…

Posted on by amy

It’s a chilly morning here in Welcome Bay. I’m sitting in my Dads office looking out over the sea with my morning coffee. It’s just Lollie ( our cat ) and I this morning. Outside I can hear the Tui’s singing and for the first time since landing back in New Zealand last week, I feel rested.

It’s such an epic journey! I’d forgotten how long it takes. It feels strange to be back in a country that has so much space. Driving home from a birthday party last night I came across three cars. It was 10pm. Wow.

I’m going to keep this blog more regular from now on. As you can see, there are still some tweaks to be made to the site but rest assured that will be done over the next few weeks thanks to the talent and skill of Michael Bell.

Till next time…
